Israeli envoy, guv to tackle agriculture

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said he is meeting with Israeli Ambassador Zvi Aviner Vapni to request for agricultural expertise assistance, and with officials of Global Green Power PLC Corp. on their planned construction of a power plant in Negros Occidental.

The Israeli ambassador and the Global Green officials will meet separately with the governor at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City this morning.

The governor said the ambassador will be accompanied by the agricultural attaché of the Israeli Embassy.

“We hope to get some assistance in Israeli agricultural expertise that is one of the best in the world,” he said, citing its “very efficient use of water for drip irrigation and excellent dairy industry.”

The governor will also meet with Green Power officials this morning to discuss their plan to build a power plant of about 35 megawatt in Sagay City, depending on the availability of biomass to sustain its operations.
